Poker Content!

Been a while since I posted a tournament hand, but this one is mildly interesting.

First hand of a tournament. Blinds are 100/200 (10,000 starting chips). You're dealt Ks-Kc. Two limpers in front (why does this always seem to happen on the first hand?) and you raise to 700. Both limpers call. There is 2400 in the pot with the blinds.

Flop: Jd-10d-4s

It checks to you, and you bet 2000. The initial limper calls 2000 and the other gets out of the way.

Turn: Qh

Now limper leads out for 3000.

What do you do? What hands do you put him on?

Since he limped rather than raised pre I say he slow played T-J on the flop. 8-9 is also a possibility.

8-9 Suited is a real possibility.

QJ and the suits do not matter.

I think QJ is possible. Not AK since I think he would have raised.. but you need a read to know. 89 is possible too. Fricken retards. You are probably beat but with the pot size and IF he has QJ.. then you probably have the outs to make the call... hope he checks the river if you miss and check behind or go for the super steal. Whee!

This is a fold me thinks. You're basically pot committed if you call his raise -- over half your stack will be in the pot before the river card -- and on this super scary board where any clown with T9, JJ, JT, QJ, QT, 44 or AK has you beat and likely holds some of your out cards as well, plus with the flush draw out there that could beat you even if you are ahead now, I think you fold it, take the loss of around 25% of your stack on Hand #1, and know that you managed to lose the minimum and live to fight another day.

For all who said fold, you are probably correct. To me, the hand that made the most sense was AQ and he turned the top pair, but was afraid of the flush. With my bet, it's unlikely that he has AK. Two pair would be afraid that I had AK and would have raised right out of the box on the flop. A set is possible, but that's just monsters under the bed. KQ is also possible, but less likely since I'm holding a King.

FWIW - he showed AK. Moron.

I know it takes me a while to read these things now but what you are saying in a round about way is,

I was right?

Now you know why I play $0.10 games occasionally.

It really never hurts, to appreciate the finer things in "Poker."
