With an Aching... in My Heart

That's right, folks. Everyone's 2nd favorite poker doctor (I'll never beat #1) is headed to California. I'm still trying to swallow the cost-of-living thing. Seriously, have you seen home prices in Silicon Valley?

This home is available RIGHT NOW (or so says the ad). This is roughly equivalent to the home I grew up in in upstate NY. Anyone have a guess at the cost? Leave your guess in the comments. Closest gets a prize.

The Wife has followed me around the world (thanks to Uncle Sam) and now it's my turn to follow her. Besides, we've lived in the Seattle area for almost 5 years - longer than any place else in our relationship. It's time for a change.

Now the only question is - do they play poker in California?

Edit: Since we are mortgaging our souls to pay for a new home (NOT the one above, mind you), your "prize" will likely be either an as-yet unpublished pic of The Wife's new shoes or something equally exotic from my collection. If I were you, I'd choose the shoes.

you couldn't get a shed for 224K... I'll say $935k

and I think that's low...

If the market wasn't shit that is...

Depends on the neighborhood... assuming someplace like Palo Alto/Menlo Park/Atherton, I'll say $1.1.

Good luck with the move.

White picket fence adds at least $500k over the same house in Seattle. I'll go $936k.

Erm, I meant the picket fence was $224k.

Yeesh, just call me a podunk from NC, 'cause I apparently failed as the first attempt...

I'm gonna guess $1,287,000.00

Without knowing the size and number of rooms, I'll say $875,000.
And keep in mind, this after the housing bust.

Count me in the clueless TripJax category because when I saw the house, compared it to my area, and then saw some of the guesses, I completely WTF'd my morning coffee.

After watching "Flip This House" too many times, considering the area and that the house is in good shape.

I'll wager on $845,000.

Closing a contest I'm not in yet! Hmmmmph!

I believe the appropriate "Price is right" bid should have been.... $1.

But since they have no need for a $1 bill in a State where water can set you back $22.50, I would have gone with the next best thing instead.

$1,287,001

Oh... and would have had no need for any Choos! But if I could have borrowed the contents for say an hour or so, I would have gladly come out to claim my prize in person!

:)

FOOT MASSAGE! I am a lonely lonely man. Um.. Where were we. Ah yeah. California Home prices. I would guess it lists for like 1.1 Million but with the bad economy and home sales dropping probably get it for less.

It is funny how inflated home prices are in some areas. In the housing boom a 1 bedroom shack in Chestnut Hill area (just outside of Boston) sold for some ridiculous amount like 1.9 million. We do not even have nice oceans either. Ours all are rocky and suck.

$935,001 :-) to Riggstad!

As long as you can afford it and you aren't mortgaging your souls for it, any house is good.

I'll take a shot the next time you're in Texas :-)

I'll be posting tonight. Lots to say.

Give my best to the wife.

Donkey Bam got pretty close to my guess. So, I'll go a buck over his and, if I win The Price is Right, the wife can ship a shoe over to the dog pound for Bob Barker's benefit.

I would have owned this contest if I had seen in time.

They play poker in California.

I can hook you up with a private poker tourney in Morgan Hill that occurs monthly. With awesome tri-tip dinner at break.
